Adam Stern- Program Director

Adam grew up in Lambeth and played several years in various local baseball organizations including the London Badgers and the Ontario Blue Jays before beginning his college career.  He attended the University of Nebraska on a baseball scholarship and played in the 2001 College World Series as the starting centre fielder. 

Drafted in the 3rd round of the 2001 MLB draft by the Atlanta Braves, he was the highest drafted Canadian player that year.  In 2004 Adam was the MVP for the AA Greenville team.  During his minor league career he was chosen to play in the Arizona Fall League and winter ball in the Dominican Republic. 

Adam is a 2-time Olympian as the starting centre fielder with Team Canada at Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008.  He played for Team Canada in the first World Baseball Classic in 2006 and helped defeat the U.S. team with an in-the-park home run as well as playing in the second Classic in 2009. Most recently Adam played as the starting centre fielder in Europe at the 2009 World Cup where Canada had its best finish ever in international play winning a Bronze Medal.

Adam made his big league debut July 9, 2005 with the Boston Red Sox where he played for the major league team for parts of 2 years.  He also had a major league stint with the Baltimore Orioles in 2007.  In 2008-2009 he was in the Milwaukee Brewers organization ending up the year with AAA Nashville.

Adam has come back to London and opened up the largest indoor baseball training facility in southwestern Ontario.  His goal is to see baseball grow in the London area and continue to expand throughout Canada.  He has had many years of experience with different types of training camps, instruction clinics and methods used in professional baseball training.  He feels that the training staff and instructors at CentreField Sports are one of the best in the country and offer a training experience second to none.

Chris brings a lot of baseball knowledge and catching experience to CentreField Sports. Chris grew up in Dorchester Ontario where he played most of his amateur baseball until he had stints with Southwest and then on to the London Badgers. He played his college baseball at the University of Illinois where he was a 2 time All Big Ten catcher. Chris was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2005 MLB draft by the Detroit Tigers, where he was an All Star at high A Lakeland in 2006. Chris has played on the Canadian Jr. National Team as well as the starting catcher for the 2008 Canadian Olympic Team in Beijing. Chris also saw time with the Canadian Team at the World Baseball Classic in 2006 and most recently at the World Cup of Baseball in Italy, where Chris was the starting catcher of the Bronze medal winning Team Canada. Chris spent this year's professional season with the Iowa Cubs, AAA affiliate to the Chicago Cubs.  He was named as the starting catcher for the Pacific Coast League All-Star team in the AAA All-Star game in July, and would end the season as the Iowa Cubs MVP while leading the team in batting average (.326), RBI's (48) and fielding percentage making only one error in 91 games.  Chris will head up the catching portion of the baseball training as well as help out with hitting.

Jamie Romak-Director of Player Development

Jamie grew up in London, Ontario playing for the North organization before moving on to the London Badgers. Jamie brings a lot of enthusiasm and hitting knowledge to CentreField Sports. Jamie was originally drafted in the 4th round of the 2003 MLB draft by the Atlanta Braves. He was a 2 time Jr. National Team starting 3B, as well as playing for the Canadian senior team in 2007. Jamie was most recently selected as a top ten prospect in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. He had a strong 2008 campaign between high A Lynchburg and AA Altoona by belting 25 home runs. Jamie will head up the infield program as well as assist with the hitting portion.

Mike Lumley - Pitching Co-ordinator

Mike was originally drafted in the 5th round of the 1988 MLB draft by the Detroit Tigers. Played 6 yrs of professional baseball, including time in Mexico making it to AAA and the Tigers 40 man roster. Mike played his college ball at Eastern Michigan University. He was named OUA coach of the year 3 times and has won the OUA twice with the Western Mustangs baseball team. Most recently Mike was the Pitching Coach of the Canadian Jr. National Team. Mike is one of the most respected pitching coaches in all of the country and brings with him years of coaching and player development. Mike has been a nice addition to CentreField sports. He will be heading up the pitching portion of the training facility.

Jess Bechard

Jess Bechard

 A native of Brantford, Ontario, Jess Bechard was a four-year letterwinner at Kent State University (Ohio), where he was a Baseball America Freshman All-American and finished his career as the Golden Flashes' career leader in several offensive categories, including hits, doubles, total bases and runs batted in. Drafted in the 41st round by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1995, Bechard followed up his career at Kent State with one season of professional baseball with the London Werewolves in 2001, where he was the starting third baseman in the Frontier League's all-star game. Bechard also boasts extensive international experience, having represented Canada on four occasions, including the 2003 World Championship in Havana, Cuba. Most recently, he suited up for the London Majors during the 2008 season and helped lead the team to its first Intercounty Baseball League pennant in 20 years.

Brock Kjeldgaard

Brock Kjeldgaard

Brock grew up playing baseball in London for Oakridge before moving on to the London Badgers and Ontario Youth team. He was also a member of the Ontario team that won the gold medal at the 2005 Canada Summer games in Regina. While both hitting and pitching at Indian Hills Community College he was named an Academic All- American. After being drafted in 2005 by the Milwaukee Brewers, he spent his first two professional seasons pitching for the advanced rookie Helena Brewers. In 2008 Brock converted from the mound to first base. In his first year hitting in professional baseball he was named to the Pioneer League All-Star team at first base as well as being named team MVP, voted on by the fans. This past season Brock split time between first base and all three outfield positions for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. He led the team in games (133), at bats (472), runs (65), hits (118), extra-base hits (54), homeruns (20) and rbi's (74). Brock is looking forward to another exciting season at Centrefield Sports.

Mike Ambrose

Mike grew up in St. Thomas Ontario where he played most of his minor baseball career until playing with the London Badgers in 2001. Mike brings a lot of infield knowledge to CentreField sports. After spending time at Oklahoma State and Eastern Oklahoma State JC, Mike spent his final two years of university as the starting shortstop for the University of North Carolina Charlotte 49ers. Mike was named First Team Atlantic 10 shortstop, A10 student athlete of the year and also received Academic-All American honours. In 2007, Mike signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates and played middle infield for the class "A" State College Spikes and low "A" Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League.

Mark Regan - B.A., B.Ed., CSCS, SPI
Strength and Conditioning Co-ordinator / Slo Pitch Softball instructor

Mark is a High School Physical Education teacher with 16 years experience as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. He coaches Football and Track and Field, while also assisting a variety of athletes to reach their full potential by developing and overseeing their strength and conditioning programs. Mark has worked with athletes who play football, hockey, baseball, basketball, and track and field. He has worked with athletes in the NHL, OHL, CIS, NCAA, CFL, MLB and is currently working closely with our very own Chris Robinson. Mark is also an avid Slo Pitch Softball player. He has competed as an Outfielder at the highest level in Canada and the U.S. for the past 20 years. He is a five time Softball Canada Senior Men's Canadian Champion and has been selected to the Softball Canada National Tournament All Star team on six occasions. Mark will oversee the Speed and Agility programs, the Strength and Conditioning programs, as well as individual hitting and fielding instruction for Slo Pitch Softball.

Adam Arnold

Adam grew up in St.Thomas Ontario, where he played his minor ball with the Cardinals until 2001.  He then moved on to play for the London Badgers and was selected to play on the Ontario Youth Team.  Adam then attended St.Clair Community College in Michigan.  Adam proceeded to play a year at Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia before he was selected in the 41st Round of the 2007 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers.  Adam spent 2007 with the Arizona Brewers and 2008 with the Helena Brewers. 

Jeff Helps

Jeff grew up playing baseball in Wyoming Ontario where he played most of his minor baseball career until moving on to play for the Sarnia Braves for two years. He then went on to St. Clair County Community College for two years before moving on to Central Michigan University from 2005 to 2008. Jeff played for the London majors in 2008 helping them to the Inter-County Baseball League Pennant and was awarded IBL playoff MVP in 2008. Jeff  started his professional career in 2009 for the Kansas City T-Bones of the Independent Northern League and finished the year as the starting short-stop.

Lindsey McLaughlin - Director of Player Development (Softball)

Lindsey McLaughlin - Director of Player Development (Softball)

Lindsey a native of Kilbride, Ontario played within various organizations in the Greater Toronto Area growing up. She ended up settling in with the Brampton Blazers where she gained success in her softball career, both coaching and playing within the Blazers Organization. Lindsey played her college ball at the University of Ottawa in the Ontario Interuniversity Women’s Fastball Association. During her time as a Gee Gee she won 2 consecutive female athlete of the year awards at her school. Additionally, she was both a 3 time team MVP and OIWFA team all star. Last year Lindsey played with the Kitchener Krush Senior Women’s team and won the Senior Women’s Canadian National Championship. Lindsey has also coached with the London Lightning Fastball Association over the last couple of seasons. Lindsey a utility player by trade brings a well rounded fastball background to Centrefield Sports.

Catherine grew up in London, Ontario where she played most of her minor fastball career playing with the London Lightning. Later with the Dorchester Jesters and Brampton Blazers, where she won numerous outstanding outfielder awards, while helping her team win 5 National Championships. Catherine attended Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, a Division 1 fastball school who participate in the Big East Conference. Catherine is a well respected coach in the province and brings with her years of coaching and player development. Catherine has a lot of fastball knowledge to share with CentreField sports.
