Adam Stern - Program Director

Adam Stern- Program Director

Adam grew up in Lambeth, Ontario and played in various local baseball organizations including the London Badgers and the Ontario Blue Jays. Drafted by Toronto Blue Jays out of high school, Adam decided instead to accept a baseball scholarship to the University of Nebraska. He played in the 2001 College World Series for Nebraska in the year that the College went from being ranked 88th in the nation to, at one point, ranked 1st place among all Division-One NCAA schools in the U.S.

Drafted in the 3rd round of the 2001 MLB draft by the Atlanta Braves, he was the highest drafted Canadian player that year. In 2004 Adam was the MVP for AA Greenville as well as a Southern League All-Star in 2004 and 2009. During his minor league career he was chosen to play in the Cape Cod league, the Arizona Fall League and winter ball in the Dominican Republic.

Adam is a 2-time Olympian with Team Canada at Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008. He played for Team Canada in the first World Baseball Classic in 2006 and helped defeat the strong U.S. team with an inside-the-park home run as well as playing in the second Classic in 2009. Most recently Adam played in Italy at the 2009 World Cup where Canada had its best finish ever in international play winning a Bronze Medal. In 2009 Adam was named Team Canada MVP. In 2007 Adam won the first “Stubby Clapp” awarded by Baseball Canada for showing leadership and dedication to the sport of baseball in Canada. Adam came back from a very successful trip to Puerto Rico in October where Team Canada qualified for the 2011 PanAm Games and the World Cup.

Adam had 3 stints playing in the Major Leagues with Boston, Baltimore and Milwaukee between 2005 and 2010.

Adam has returned to London and opened the largest indoor baseball training facility and one of the largest multi-sports complexes in Canada. His goal is to see baseball grow in southwestern Ontario and continue to expand throughout Canada. He has had many years of experience with different types of training camps, instruction clinics and methods used in professional baseball training. He feels that the training staff and instructors at Centrefield Sports are one of the finest in the country and offer a training experience second to none.

Chris Robinson - Roving Catching Instructor

Chris grew up in Dorchester, Ontario where he played his minor baseball before moving on with the London Badgers. He played his college baseball at the University of Illinois where he was a two-time All Big Ten catcher. A 9-time member of the Canadian National team, Chris was the starting catcher for the 2008 Canadian Olympic team in Beijing, the 2009 World Cup Bronze Medalist in Italy, and appeared in the 2006 World Baseball Classic. Chris came back from Puerto Rico in October where Team Canada qualified for the 2011 PanAm Games and the World Cup. He was named to the All-Star team as starting catcher.

In 2005 Chris was drafted in the third round of the MLB draft by the Detroit Tigers and has spent the last four seasons playing in the Chicago Cubs organization. In 2009 while playing for the Iowa Cubs, he was named the starting catcher for the Pacific Coast League All-Star team and would end the season as the Iowa Cubs MVP while leading the team in batting average (.326), RBI’s and fielding percentage. In 2010 playing for the AAA Iowa Cubs Chris helped lead his team to the best record in the Pacific Coast League. Chris adds to his credentials the first ever Gold Medal for Team Canada at the 2011 Pan Am Games.

“This year in Iowa was a lot of fun, we had a good group of guys and ended up with the best record in the league. The highlight of the year was the opportunity to play for and learn from Hall of Fame manager, Ryne Sandberg.” Chris will head up the catching program as well as assist with the hitting and speed and agility programs. Chris’s many years of experience in professional baseball will once again provide all the players and coaches coming to Centrefield Sports with top-notch training and development.

Jamie Romak-Director of Player Development

Jamie grew up in London, Ontario where he played for the North London organization before moving on with the London Badgers. He was drafted in the 4th round of the 2003 MLB draft by the Atlanta Braves. He was a 2-time Jr. National team starting 3B as well as playing for the Canadian senior team in 2007. He had a strong 2008 campaign by belting out 25 home runs that year. In 2010 Jamie played in the Kansas City Royal’s organization splitting the season between High A and AA. He played mainly as starting third baseman as well as some time in right and left fields and first base. He was named Player of the Week three times and “Topps” June Player of the Month. Jamie topped off a successful season as his team finished the season by winning the AA Texas League Championship.

Jamie came back from Puerto Rico in October of 2010 where Team Canada qualified for the 2011 PanAm Games and the World Cup. He was named All-Tournament MVP as well as being named to the All-Star team as starting right fielder. Jamie adds to his credentials the first ever Gold Medal for Team Canada at the 2011 Pan Am Games.

Jamie brings a lot of enthusiasm and hitting knowledge to Centrefield Sports and we are happy to have Jamie head up our infield program and continue another successful year training and developing our hitting program.

Mike Lumley - Pitching Co-ordinator

Mike was originally drafted in the 5th round of the 1988 MLB draft by the Detroit Tigers. Playing 6 yrs of professional baseball, including time in Mexico making it to AAA and on the Tigers 40 man roster. Mike played his college ball at Eastern Michigan University. He was named OUA coach of the year 4 times, and has won the OUA Championships 4 times with the Western Mustangs baseball team. Most recently Mike was the Pitching Coach of the Canadian Jr. National Team.

In the Badger program Mike has helped over 100 players receive scholarships to various Universities and Colleges throughout the U.S. and Canada. The program has had over 20 players drafted in the Major League Baseball Draft. Since 1997 Mike has coached the Midget Badger Baseball team to 9 AAA OBA Championships, 7 Elimination Championships, 3 Canadian Bronze Medals and 2 National Championships. Mike was most recently voted as the 2011 Baseball Ontario Coach of The Year.

Mike is one of the most respected pitching coaches in Canada and brings with him years of coaching and player development. Mike is a great addition to Centrefield Sports and will be heading up the pitching portion of the training facility.

Brad McElroy

Brad grew up in London and played competitive ball for SouthWest London.  From ages 14 to 18 he played in the London Badgers organization.  Brad attended Kellogg Community College for two years where he was named an All-American.  He then played at UNC Charlotte for two years where he was named All-American in his junior year and pre-season first team All-American in his senior year. 
Brad was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 25th round in 2007 and has been with that organization for the past 3 years

Brock Kjeldgaard

Brock grew up playing baseball in London, Ontario for Oakridge before moving to the London Badgers and the Ontario Youth team. He was a member of the Ontario team that won the gold medal at the 2005 Canada Summer Games in Regina. While playing at Indian Hills Community College he was named Academic All-American. He was drafted in the 2005 MLB draft by the Milwaukee Brewers and spent his first two professional seasons pitching for the advanced rookie Helena Brewers. In 2008 Brock converted from the mound to first base. In his first year hitting in professional baseball he was named to the Pioneer League All-Star team at first base as well as being named team MVP. In 2009 Brock split time between first base and all three outfield positions for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. In 2010 Brock played for the Brevard County Manatees, the high class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. He was 4th in the league in homeruns with 17 and had 75 RBI’s. Brock adds to his credentials the first ever Gold Medal for Team Canada at the 2011 Pan Am Games. He most recently was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers 40 man roster for 2012.

Brock is looking forward to working with another group of young players wanting to learn the proper techniques of hitting in our new larger facility.

Mike Ambrose

Mike grew up in St. Thomas Ontario where he played most of his minor baseball career until playing with the London Badgers in 2001. Mike brings a lot of infield knowledge to Centrefield sports. After spending time at Oklahoma State and Eastern Oklahoma State JC, Mike spent his final two years of university as the starting shortstop for the University of North Carolina Charlotte 49ers. Mike was named First Team Atlantic 10 shortstop, A10 student athlete of the year and also received Academic-All American honours. In 2007, Mike signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates and played middle infield for the class "A" State College Spikes and low "A" Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League.

Strength and Conditioning Co-ordinator / Slo Pitch Softball instructor

Mark brings to Centrefield 16 years experience as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. He coaches Football and Track and Field, while also assisting a variety of athletes to reach their full potential by developing and overseeing their strength and conditioning programs. Mark has worked with athletes who play football, hockey, baseball, basketball, and track and field. He has worked with athletes in the NHL, OHL, CIS, NCAA, CFL, MLB and is currently working closely with our very own Chris Robinson. Mark is also an avid Slo Pitch Softball player. He has competed as an Outfielder at the highest level in Canada and the U.S. for the past 20 years. He is a five time Softball Canada Senior Men's Canadian Champion and has been selected to the Softball Canada National Tournament All Star team on six occasions. Mark will oversee the Speed and Agility programs, the Strength and Conditioning programs, as well as individual hitting and fielding instruction for Slo Pitch Softball.

Adam Arnold

Adam grew up in St.Thomas Ontario, where he played his minor ball with the Cardinals until 2001.  He then moved on to play for the London Badgers and was selected to play on the Ontario Youth Team.  Adam then attended St.Clair Community College in Michigan.  Adam proceeded to play a year at Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia before he was selected in the 41st Round of the 2007 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers.  Adam spent 2007 with the Arizona Brewers and 2008 with the Helena Brewers. 

Jeff Helps

Jeff played minor baseball in Wyoming, Ontario until moving on to play for the Sarnia Braves for two years. He went to St. Clair County Community College for two years before moving to Central Michigan University from 2005 to 2008. Jeff played for the London Majors in 2008 helping the team win the Inter-County Baseball League Pennant and was named IBL playoff MVP in 2008. He started his professional career in 2009 as the starting short-stop for the Kansas City T-Bones of the Independent Northern League. In 2010 Jeff played for the Kalamazoo Kings of the Frontier League and in 2011 helped the Quebec Capitales win their 3rd consecutive Can-Am league championship. He is also a certified Personal Trainer through Can-Fit-Pro.

 

 

 

 

 

Kevin Mailloux

Kevin grew up playing in the Tecumseh, Windsor and Team Ontario baseball associations. Throughout his years in minor ball, he won a Canadian National Championship, a Canada Games Gold Medal and several O.B.A championships. After graduating from St.Anne high school, Mailloux attended Kellogg Community College for two years where he was named an all-American. He then played his junior and senior years at Canisius College. He was named an all-American both years and collected a Top Male Athlete of Year award. After graduating with a degree in business management, he was selected in the 45th round by the Seattle Mariners. Mailloux was part of two league championship teams, named league all-star one year at 2nd base and one year at 3rd base.
